First of the line produced by Jaguar after they had been released from the clutches of BL, the panel fit and sense of quality with this ‘time-warp’ example proves what a revelation these Jaguars were. Benefitting from the MPG and reliability of the ‘May’ cylinder heads, yet fitted with the most comfortable ‘Slumberland’ seating, characterful ‘starfish’ wheels and ultra-rare surviving double pin stripe, this is a sweet-spot in the cars’ 21 years of production. The first owner was obviously an enthusiast ordering in this very unusual and (then) retro colour combination harking back to the thoroughbred super-cars of a generation before- Rhodium Silver with Mulberry Hide. Additional rust proofing procedures were deployed from the outset. Apart from obvious light use, the enormous file of paperwork supports its mileage of 28,000 from new. We first purchased the car 10 years ago, selling on to a devout enthusiast and many more hours have been spent detailing the vehicle than actually driving it, as seen from the photos of the vehicle underneath. We are pleased to offer this special XJS once again. The engine compartment is correct and original with little or no evidence of deterioration since day one and the largely original paintwork plus totally original interior and pristine brightwork is truly cosseted.
