In a similar vein to Jaguar’s exclusive ‘run out’ model E Type ‘Commemorative’ and XJS ‘Celebration’, the collectable values of which have widened significantly from later standard cars, Jaguar’s limited and last (’06 model year) classic and original XK models were recognised by a limited production called the ‘4.2 S’ of which this is one. Available in 4 special colours, this 4.2 Convertible in Copper Black with Ivory Hide and black stitching (and power hood) is the most sought combination as it echoes the ‘Commemorative’ original ‘E’ Types which were all black. It features Elm-wood Veneers which was another distinguishing feature of the ‘4.2S’. The cars are further identified by highly polished chequered flag tread plates, leather bound floor carpets, bespoke chequered-flag ‘white’ bonnet emblem and ‘S’ rear emblem beneath darkened rear light lenses. This car is unusual as it has Brembo brakes and 20” split rim BBS ‘Perseus’ alloy wheels which were usually reserved for the ‘R’ version. This also has adaptive cruise control and quad-exhaust pipes. Coming to us directly from the previous owner who has cared for this Jaguar for the past decade, it has a good service history and just 43,000 miles covered since new. Unusually the hood lining is still pristine, indicating the car has been driven with the original vinyl protector and garaged with the protective cover in use. An original factory sales brochure is included which is collectible in itself. With ‘modern classics’ much in demand, this is beautiful car to behold.
