Supplied new by Follett in London’s fashionable Fulham Road, subsequent maintenance was carried out by RA Creamer who held The Royal Warrant for Jaguar servicing. Indeed, the original owner was meticulous about maintenance being a noted former Le Mans Jaguar racing driver in the 1950’s who purchased his XJS new for sedate outings in retirement. Eventually trading in with Creamer, they sold the car on to the second owner whose family are a household name in the fashion world. Again, the car was sparingly used with servicing maintained by Creamer until it was eventually traded in to Guy Salmon, Thames Ditton in 2012 with 27,000 miles covered since new. Their Jaguar workshops and sales executives were so impressed with the XJS it was placed in their showroom to be main-dealer retailed. However, Robert Hughes brokered agreed a deal with Guy Salmon to supply the car to a special client who was a retired pioneer in industry and the car was driven to the Lake District where it was retained for special occasion use until the gentleman passed away when it was then taken over by one of his relatives from whom we have just reacquired this ultra-special XJS for sale. Finished in one of the most distinguished colour combinations of Regent Grey with Saville Grey Hide, the car has now covered 30,000 miles since new. Being a pre catalytic converter V12 but tuned for unleaded as only the later “Higher Efficiency” engines were, this is the best driving XJS. As a car built in the latter ‘John Egan’ years of privatisation it further benefits from the step-up in quality bestowed on these ’87 cars with their subtler pinstripe coach-finishers, pleated sports seating and lattice alloy wheels. Best of the original shape and one of  the most sought-after models in the XJS lineage, this is undoubtably one of the best on offer.
